GILAS Pilipinas defeated Jordan, 75-61, on Saturday in a closed door tune-up game before the Nationals plunge into action in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The low-scoring match saw Gilas Pilipinas lead, 40-29, at halftime before pulling off the victory against Jordan, which is also set to compete in the FIBA Asia Cup.

It was Gilas’ second and final tune-up game before they begin their campaign in the FIBA Asia Cup where they will face Chinese Taipei on Wednesday.

The scoring in the tune-up battle against Jordan was in pale contrast to their first game where Gilas Pilipinas defeated Macau Black Bears, 103-98, last July 28 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum that was open to the public.

Gilas ended the third quarter with a 55-47 lead, and maintained that gap by outscoring Jordan, 20-14, in the final period.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Facebook page reported that Calvin Oftana was among the players who hit key threes in the fourth quarter.

Oftana made the trip to Jeddah despite the uncertainty of his status following injuries to both of his ankles during the recent PBA Philippine Cup playoffs and finals.

Kevin Quiambao, Dwight Ramos, and Scottie Thompson also made threes during the final period, as per SBP.
