It remains the fastest by a non-European in World Cup history, with Pak Seung Zin having netted after 50 seconds for Korea DPR against Portugal in 1966. The only quicker goals in World Cup history were Bryan Robson’s in 28 seconds for England against France in 1982, Ernest Lehner’s in 25 seconds for Germany against Austria in 1934, Vaclav Masek’s in 15 seconds for Czechoslovakia against Mexico in 1962, and Hakan Sukur’s in 11 seconds for Türkiye against Korea Republic in 2002.
